    News module

    Hello,

I'm using a snippet to show some news on the right column of the site. It is possible :

    1. To limit the number of news displayed.
    2. To filter the results by news category.

    Using ECF 4.1.2.16751 and Mediachase.eCF.PublicStore.MasterTemplates.Default.Modules.TopNewsModule

    Thanks

    Re: News module

    1. TopNewsModule is used to display specified number of news ordered by publication date. To set the number of news for displaying, use NewsCount property.

    2. ClientNews class in ClientLibrary has methods to get news by category.

    Re: News module

An example of using TopNewsModule you can see in \PublicStore\MasterTemplates\Everything\Theme\Category\DefaultTemplate.ascx  file.

    Re: News module

Maybe you didn't understand me. I really need to know how to do this.
I can't consider this issue closed.

I've checked everywhere on your site and it seems there is no solid documentation (besides the installation procedures) or api reference with examples, howto's or tutorials.

It's not like were talking about a product that costs 200$...

    Re: News module

Here is a wiki article that explains a bit how to configure the TopNewsModule - http://docs.mediachase.com/doku.php?id=ecf:41:tutorials:newsmodule

Also, if you go to ecf412.qa.mediachase.com/public, you will see that by using a value of 1 for the NewsCount property, only the most recent news article shows up on the home page.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: News module

On the link you gave me it says :

"The ClientNews class in the ClientLibrary has methods to gets news by category so that you can have more control in pulling in the news that you want."

But i've downloaded the eCF developer guide (.CHM) and there's no reference of this class.

Where can i find the documentation for this one ? (This was one of the questions in the first place)

    Re: News module

I am afraid that we don't have documentation for that class and we don't plan on making that available since it is fairly straightforward.  Since you have full source code, you will quickly see that there are only several methods. Sorry I couldn't provide you with any more information.
